We arrived in Salem, Oregon on the evening of March 28th, 2006 after a cross country journey of 2,785 miles. Our "Oregon trail" began on March 24th departing from the city of Mobile, Alabama. Our "Covered wagons" were two Penske trucks, 26 and 16 feet, Rodney, Joe, Brian, Brad, and Michael helped us load them up. We placed the 5 puppies in two cages in the back of the Nissan Frontier and drove away. Michael and Holly Mann shared the adventure with us.

I bet it was cool being able to drive down the beach, just like Daytona. You guys have seen more of the area in two months than I have seen of Mobile in eight years. I guess the key is to move to a new place with out a job.

We finally managed to find your blog......cool idea! Liked your comparison to the Oregon Trail...too bad we couldn't meet up here in Colorado with you guys. Any chance you will come this way for a vacation? We have a beautiful state too but without the rain. (300 + sunny days per year --remember that when the rainy season begins)
We loved the photos of the coast.....it reminded us of our family reunion in Gleneden Beach (near Newport, Oregon).....
Hope to hear from you again soon.
Pieter and Melissa
